Namaste! My name is Misty Piatek. I started studying Ashtanga yoga in September of 2009. Yoga has completely transformed my life and has motivated me to share it with others.
Before finding yoga, I used to run 3+ miles four days a week and spent countless hours in the gym lifting weights to stay in shape. One day, a friend of mine asked me to try yoga and attend a class with her. The first class I went to blew me away and the challenge intrigued me to keep coming back. I started Ashtanga yoga for fitness reasons; but what I found along the way, I could never have anticipated.
Prior to developing a yoga practice, I often felt anxious on a regular basis and sometimes stressed when work became challenging. Today, it takes alot more to unbalance my demeanor. My attitude toward life has changed and I have learned to let go of controlling my destination and allowing and accepting whatever comes my way. Yoga has brought a level of calm and peace into my life that I could never have imagined.
Yoga has also changed the way I care for my body. Unexpectedly, along the way, it made me more councious of my decisions such as the food I put in my body, the hygiene products I use to take care of myself and the environments I choose to subject myself to.
Today, I have a dedicated yoga practice, practicing the Ashtanga Primary Series 6 days a week and observing days of rest on new and full moons. I owe everything I have learned to all the teachers I studied with along the way. Since 2009, I have studied with:
